Not far from the new waterfront homes at Vita at Grove Isle is the lively Miami enclave of Coconut Grove. The area has a lot of cool spots, but the recent makeover of the popular mall Cocowalk, completed in 2021, has the neighborhood shining more brightly than ever.
CocoWalk opened its doors in 1990 as one of the country’s greatest lifestyle and shopping centers. This open-air mall was designed to feel like a small town where people could not only shop, but also relax and hang out. Since its inception, CocoWalk has been a staple in the lives of Coconut Grove residents. And now, after a two-year renovation, there’s plenty to see and do that is totally new. Here’s a peek at three eateries in this urban village that have everyone talking.
Check Out What's Fresh at CocoWalk | 3015 Grand Ave
Always a welcoming and familiar hangout, CocoWalk now feels like an old friend who went to Europe and came back with a stylish, edgy look and personality. Thanks to the talented team at RSP Architects, you’ll find a blend of fashionable shops, must-try dining places, and inviting outdoor seating arrangements. It's a fresh vibe, but it’s still the Grove’s good old CocoWalk.
Let's Talk Food
There are tons of great options at CocoWalk, but to spotlight just a few:
Sushi Garage | 3015 Grand Ave
A mix of Japanese classic and fusion cuisine. The interior is modern and sleek, but with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere — perfect for having a sumptuous sushi adventure or a leisurely night out. Show up a little early for their half-off all drinks special, from 5-8 p.m. every day. And, of course, you’ll want to treat yourself to a couple of their specialty sushi rolls, like Snow Crab Kani Su, Rosemary Eel Roll, or Tuna Chicharrón.
PLANTA Queen | 3015 Grand Ave Suite 201
All about plants and the planet. PLANTA Queen strives to keep the future looking brighter and greener — without sacrificing flavor or variety. They run a paperless business, and look to reduce waste wherever possible. They even serve vegan and gluten-free dishes. Come try their Baby Gem Salad, with orange and avocado, or the Pad Thai Slaw, which features kelp noodles, green papaya, and peanut sauce. Accompany these lively and colorful dishes with one of their happy hour cocktails like the Herb Your Enthusiasm or Kombucha Mojito. With an Asian spin on its food and a fresh, airy setting, you might become a regular.
Narbona | 3015 Grand Ave Suite 116
The Narbona restaurant and farm market brings the tastes of Uruguay to Coconut Grove. Their tempting options include homemade gnocchi, prime skirt steak, and brick-oven Uruguayan pizza — Narbona’s namesake pie comes stuffed with stracciatella, the rich, creamy interior of fresh burrata. And the rustic indoor and outdoor seating arrangements make each meal feel upscale yet cozy. If you don’t have time for a sit-down dinner at the restaurant, you can still enjoy their bakery, specialty market, and butcher shop.
